Why does Baby owe Doc?

I assumed we'd find out at some point in the movie why Baby had this enormous debt to Doc, but we never did (unless I missed something). Any thoughts?

It's explained at some point. Miles took Doc's car for a joy ride around Atlanta. The cops couldn't catch him and Miles had no idea who's car he stole and what merchandise was in the car. Doc was impressed with his driving so he made Miles be his driver.
