Discuter de The New Mutants

He has never directed a film. Interesting choice? Apparently he has worked as producer on a lot of Marvel films. Perhaps Fox are looking for their own Feige?

A great screenwriter, I think he'll make a good director.

I thought Kinberg was more of a script fixer.

Simon Kinberg wrote the scripts for Apocalypse and Last Stand. I would NOT want him to direct my movie.

Kinberg is actually directing Dark Phoenix.

Josh Boone is directing New Mutants.

You're nuts, X-Men Apocalypse was great and The Last Stand was much better than critics say. Chances are you're just a mindless sheep succumbing to peer pressure.

There's no way to qualify this, but I'm willing to bet that X-Men: Apocalypse and X-Men: The Last Stand are the least favorite two films of X-Men fans...

Yes, that and X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Originally, the filmmakers were going to do all spin offs/origin movies for Magneto, Charles Xavier, Emma Frost, Gambit, and Deadpool. Origins: Wolverine was so terrible, it ruined all that.

Last Stand and Apocalypse are quite mediocre. That is why I don't have much faith in Simon Kinberg.

So I am glad Josh Boone is directing this one.

I wasn't impressed by Apocalypse, but I'm with you on "Last Stand". I felt it actually covered a lot more of the "outsider" themes of the comics than some of the other films.

Bad as X Men Origins: Wolverine was, it made a fair bit of the old money. So I think that's extremely unlikely to be the reason they scrapped other spin offs. A films quality would rarely determine if they make more of that type. Hollywood only care about the cash.

The Magneto and Xavier spin offs were actually incorporated into First Class while Deadpool they just never knew what to do with.

He did also write Days of Future Past though, so there is some light. My bigger concern is that he's never directed anything else and this is a huge blockbuster with a massive cast. The last time a writer took over directing a comic franchise was Blade:Trinity. :(

Who would you guys pick to direct Dark Phoenix if you had any choice of director?

Well firstly, they shouldn't do it so soon. It's guaranteed to be not too good, since Sophie and the actor playing Scott Summers (forgot his name) have almost NO emotional currency between them. The story should be theirs, to an extent. But as for the director, I'm thinking someone who's good with outer space tales....

Yeah, there should be at least another film inbetween. It's because Apocalypse was so crowded that Cyclops and Jean Grey felt so underdeveloped by the films end. So when she did the whole Phoenix thing at the end it felt so unearned. This next film feels so unearned.

I'd quite like Mathew Vaughn to come back as director and Jane Goldman as writer. They seem to know what they're doing.

Seconded! First Class was the only one of the second trilogy that I really liked. Saw Kingsman: The Golden Circle this week and thought it was brilliant. Vaughan seems to be one of the few directors who can shoot fight scenes where you can tell what's happening.

It's good is it? It's nice to hear a positive response after all the negativity. I'd pretty much written it off. My hope is renewed.

Mme LeMarchand and I both had fun, and the "feel" in the cinema was positive. If you enjoyed the first, you should enjoy it.

I wish Matthew Vaughn had taken over from Bryan Singer to direct the franchise.

Kinberg did write Days of Future Past, which was good, but he was also responsible for Apocalypse, The Last Stand, and The Fantastic Four.

I have more faith in Josh Boone directing a young adult movie, since he directed The Fault In our Stars. KInberg has directed nothing up until this point.

Even though Wolverine: Origins did make money, it was savaged by critics and fans, so that is why Fox scrapped the Origin spin off series for the other X-Men, which is a shame.

I had no idea he wrote Fantastic Four too. We really are in trouble!

I still don't think that was the reason they scrapped them. Studios extremely rarely care about the opinions of critics and fans. Even if they say they do. Money is all. They would have abandoned the Wolverine sequels too if that wasn't the case.

The very reason they are thrusting Jennifer Lawrence upon us again despite fan protestations and critics dismay last time round is because they think it will make them money. We can say what we want, but the studios will cover their ears and say 'Lalalalala'.
