Definitely agree. This was a trash ass movie. It’s a complete joke. Just watch the 80’s Predator film with Arnie, Ventura and Weathers, and stop there. I also like how in addition to being pretty and a scientist, the main female character was all of a sudden experienced in combat and a badass who could hang with trained soldiers, etc.

Also, why didn’t the Predator kill any female characters in this one? These unearthly beings somehow have a gender bias when being attacked by something with ovaries? Ludicrous how they always portray the female characters this way. I agree that it would have been interesting if they switched it up a little.

Rumor was that the studio intervened a lot in the production. I don't know how ruinous that would have been, though, as Shane Black hasn't made good movies since Lethal Weapon, anyway. Bringing him on to write this one was a huge red flag to me, from the very beginning.

Going to have to disagree that none of the other films are worth watching, though. Predator 2 may not have been exactly Oscar-worthy, but it certainly doesn't get as much recognition as it deserves. It really isn't that bad of a movie, particularly when you measure it against the more recent films.

I'll go you one better - I think Alien vs. Predator was awesome, particularly how it built on and expanded the idea the end of Predator 2 to show how the Predators had been catalysts for much human history, architecture, religion, and mass extinctions that seemed to have no cause or warning; as well, the sense of culture, order and honor among the predators that we saw, again, at the end of Predator 2, in how the predators acknowledged human warriors, mourned and buried their dead through ceremony and ritual. Those scenes elevated predators above mindless monsters to a sense of dignity and culture befitting advanced beings with the technology for space travel.
