Discuss Walkabout

Item: Walkabout

Language: en-US

Type of Problem: Incorrect_content

Extra Details: Production countries (United States) and production companies (Max L. Raab Productions and Si Litvinoff Film Production) is incorrect.

Although both Max Raab and Si Litvinoff produce the film, for the purposes of this film, the two American production combined into a new production company which was incorporated in Australia called Max L. Raab - Si Litvinoff Film Productions. This new Australian production company (Max L. Raab - Si Litvinoff Film Productions) is what is credited in the film, not "Max L. Raab Productions" and "Si Litvinoff Film Production".

Production country should be "Australia" not "United States".

Apologies, didn't notice the closed threads on this topic. But adding additonal thoughts based on what was discussed in those closed threads.

This source was used to justify it being listed as a solely American film, along with this quote from a contributor in the source: "Walkabout is a classic film about Australia, if not a classic Australian film. It was made with American money, from a script and a novel by English writers, by an English director using mostly English actors, but it is intensely engaged with the Australian landscape and a metaphysical idea of what Australia is – or was."

Yet, the quote used itself even calls it an Australian film (see bold above). Further, the "additional notes" from contributors in that same government source clearly claim it as an Australian film: "This weird, whimsical and worrying 1970 Australian film states in the opening text that, β€˜In Australia, when an Aboriginal man-child reaches 16, he is sent out into the land. For months he must live from it. Sleep on it. Eat of its fruits and flesh. Stay alive. Even if it means killing his fellow creatures. The Aborigines call it the Walkabout. This is the story of a Walkabout.’"

Odd decision to use those government sources to try to justify it not being an Australian production
