Bond 25 is supposed to be Craig's final Bond film. My guess is the producers won't change the tone for his last film. Bond 25 is unlikely to be that different to Craig's previous four. Perhaps the new American director - the first American to direct a Bond film - may take some inspiration from the MI films but I wouldn't guarantee it.
I think we'll need a new Bond actor to see a tonal shift in the films. It's amazing how long the character has lasted in popular culture but he's kind of a dinosaur compared to all other action heroes. Bond is essentially a 1950s/1960s hero. The franchise may need a slight reboot, change in direction, after Craig leaves just to make it seem relevant again.
I don't know why you put fans in inverted commas, but anyway they didn't really humanize Bond with Daniel Craig in fact they managed to accomplish the complete opposite with him. He's the brawn Bond nothing more nothing less and while his version isn't my cup of tea, I at least acknowledge that he's the most muscular version but that's it.
There are plenty of people who have posted here complaining that CraigBond has been "too emotional".
The inverted commas were because many of them seem less fans of Bond and more fans of a certain type of Bond. cf Star Trek/Star Wars/BSG fans who want everything to stay exactly as it was when they first became fans.
Craig's Bond is overly emotional and devoid of much emotion. Craig is the ultimate method actor. He is the only actor in the history of everything that can act with emotion and zero emotion in the same scene! What a guy.
I loved Casino Royale, Quantum Of Solace, and Skyfall, but quite frankly Spectre was blah (the pre-credit scene in Mexico City was incredible, it's the best part of the movie).
Casino Royale was great but everything else has been terrible, OK and boring.
This rendition of Bond arose not only post-Bourne, but post 9/11 when the notion of fun was less welcome in spy fiction
I think if the Bond producers are smart they'll repeat the Roger Moore formula and bring in an actor who can provide some comic relief to generate interest in the spy genre again. The Daniel Craig era seemed to take itself too seriously at a time when filmgoers were demanding action films that deliver comedy as well (the Oceans movies, Deadpool, Guy Ritchie movies). If they hire a "comic" bond instead of a stone faced tough guy I think the series would generate renewed interest, just as Roger Moore did with the younger generation who wasn't sold on mom & pop's action hero Connery.

What the hell is a mom and pop's action hero? An action hero who fights Amazon in his spare time?

Well, they tried to make Bond more human with Craig and it just annoyed a lot of "fans".
