Discuss Throne of Blood

Throne of Blood is arguably one of the greatest Shakespeare adaptations on screen. The visuals, the acting, the direction….all top notch! I was also stunned that they actually shot at the main character with real arrows! And a number of them hit! Maybe a hundred or so hit very closely! That must have been a terrifying sequence to film.

This film is miles and miles better than the Coen MacBeth version.

If you mean the Coens, I like them, but... I wouldn't doubt it.

No, he means Coen (singular). This was the first film made by Joel without Ethan.

I gotcha. The one with Denzel, then?

Yes.

And I believe Corey Hawkins, who played Dr. Dre in the NWA movie and also acted in "The Walking Dead" is in it?

He plays Macduff.

Cool. Thanks

You're welcome. I haven't seen it & have no wish to. I hate it when people make films in B & W when it isn't really necessary. It's just pretentious in my opinion.

MacBeth had a very sterile, cold CGI look. Throne of Blood is so much better!

Other recent BW films - Roma, not that great. I cannot understand the acclaim.

The Artist, it was decent, a “silent” film but a bit forgettable as an Oscar Best Picture.

Ida, now this is a good film! The cinematography is gorgeous and the story about a conflicted nun is compelling. It’s free to stream on Tubi.
