For history buffs, to say King John was, um, unpopular, is easy; some argue he's the most evil monarch in English history which, given the colourful history of the English monarchy, is quite a mouthful.

One would think that might provide plenty of fodder for cinematic drama - Ironclad supports that thought. Don't get me wrong - this is not a history class, and it took plenty of liberties with actual history (whatever that is, since none of us were there, and all we have are records which, as we all know, are written from biased points of view anyway).

At any rate, pay no mind to the woeful box office performance. I rather enjoyed this movie.
