wow. This movie (which I remember was cut down from a miniseries) still holds up today. Yes, a few of the ocean effects look like models but everything else is spot on. Terrified all over again. I'm watching so I can refresh myself before watching the new miniseries which I understand is a possible sequel (mixed reviews, but still excited). Just a great film.

I saw it back when it aired on US t.v. circa 1982 and remember it's excellent, but unfortunately now can't recall any of the specifics.

I would recommend a rewatch. It's something else. And refreshingly no CGI (which has come a long way but still too animated/fake to my eyes.) An important and thrilling film.

I saw this for the first time about a decade ago and yes, it is timeless and a sign of a previous era where drama could be built up without pizzaz and theatrics. If they remade it today it's probably include a kraken.
