I thought the tension was well crafted throughout. It was a nice spin on the genre. Not groundbreaking but the reviews didn't give it enough credit for what it did right.
Seen almost all of sci-fi films out there. To the point that I had to often scroll exhaustively in scanning sci-fi lists.
Life (2017) blew my mind away, and my only nag is that Calvin shouldn't have been silent (a deliberate decision). When I think of famous antagonists, I can remember, say, their heavy breathing, their lumbering footsteps, or their teeth gnashing loudly. Even Alien (1979) screamed at the end. Lack of organic sound = not as involving / relatable.

Exactly this. Gripping, entertaining, well cast and acted with innovative direction. Yes it had flaws, but lets not write off the whole film because of some scientific inadequacies and rash decision making. I'm amazed this film flew so far under the radar, it's really way above average for a modern sci-fi.

I never felt like stopping watching or walking out, kept me entertained, gave it a 7 which is perhaps generous by a point

I really liked this too except for a couple of things:
Seeing Calvin's viewpoint a la Predator (was this really necessary?)
Obvious twist at the end. I love twists but this one was pretty apparent from the moment they got into the two escape pods
