I don't even need the trailer to be sick. The poster alone tells me everything.. Hollywood get's worse and worse. They do everything for a fast buck. Or is it me? I miss the golden age of cinema, nowadays you have to go way off track to find something original or at least mildly interesting.

It was comfy but pretty poorly written. Low grade fare. Even the lame Taken 3 was better. It wasn't in your face bad so it works for spending a few hours with Liam doing his thing. I really was hoping for some sophisticated layer of intrigue.

So true. I end up just watching foreign films 90% of the time

I thought the film was good, true that it's not going to be like the first Taken but I really don't see what the problem is.

The logistics of the film fall apart under scrutiny. It is obvious that they came up with the idea of Liam kicking ass on a train first and hastily filled in the blanks backward. Add to this the forced moments like "I always knew it would be the train" and you have a B grade movie. Like I said, I enjoyed myself but it was a bad movie.

That makes no sense, how can you enjoy it but hated it?

I did not say that I hated it. Do you have zero complaints about things you like? Is it 0% or 100% with you? Sometimes we like severely flawed things. Liam movies have a certain charm that makes them work even when they suffer from quality issues.
I like Godzilla movies and they are arguably bad films.

Oh sorry, my bad. Some of the Godzilla films have their charm but there is some cancerous ones like All Monsters Attack (1969) and Godzilla vs. Hedorah and of course Godzilla (1998) which is pretty much "Fakezilla". As for the recent 2014 Godzilla film, I was really disappointed with it.
Back on topic, well I don't know what to say to you, at least I enjoyed it. I guess you can't please everyone.

No foul.
This is now a Godzilla thread.
Totally agree on G98 and All Monsters Attack (although I did appreciate the cast of rare Kaiju). But I sorta liked Godzilla vs the Smog Monster even though it is another child-star offering (groan). I don't much like the original nor G95 either. I need Godzilla to fight another monster.
What was it about G2014 that you didn't like? I liked it quite a bit as well as its sister film Kong Skull Island.
My favorites are Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla, Terror of Mechagodzilla, and Godzilla vs Monster Zero which is one of the few with a good storyline.

Well Bryan Cranston's role in G2014 was completely wasted and he was the best actor in the entire movie yet he was killed off too soon. What I really hated about G2014 for the most part is that it turns into a military movie where Godzilla is more like a support character rather than being the main star and Godzilla himself only appears for about 8 minutes in total while you see the Muto far more than him. Oh and when you see Godzilla face off against the Muto for the first time, you think your going to see a fight but then in the point of view of the people, the doors close up and you don't get to see that particular part of the fight...
In comparison to Kong: Skull Island, I thought that was a much better film, King Kong had much better screen time and you see all the monster fights. Hopefully they will get this right with the next Godzilla film which will have Mothra and King Ghidorah, and then the film after that is Godzilla against King Kong.
I've never watched any of the Japanese Godzilla films, having to read through subtitles is a bit of a turn off though.

The latest Japanese Godzilla film Shin Gojira is much better than G2014. It's probably the best Godzilla film since the early 60's.

I don't have too much of a problem with Godzilla not being the "star" in modern US renditions but you have a point about Cranston's early exit. I am OK with the method of buildup in the film. I know people who have your exact complaint and I get it.
Skull Island was certainly a better movie in most ways. It does give one hope for the future quality of their efforts.
@Dawn of the Ed is right; Shin Godzilla is very good (but I have some issues with it like the lame laser tail)

Glad someone agrees about my issue with the early exit of Bryan Cranston in that film, I absolutely love Breaking Bad, if they really wanted to kill him off then they could have just kept him until the finale of the movie like doing a heroic sacrifice.
Anyway, I do find it silly that this thread that's meant for the Commuter has been hijacked into a Godzilla thread, just imagine Taken meets Godzilla, the story goes is that MechaGodzilla has kidnapped Godzilla's son Minilla and he's being held captive on another planet by the aliens responsible for creating MechaGodzilla and Godzilla needs to travel in space to rescue Minilla but Godzilla has to fight MechaGodzilla.

I didn't think it was bad. poorly written but Jaume Collet Serra is a director very good at escalating the suspense. it's very derivative, you can call it Taken or you can call is Non-Stop on a train and you'd be right. but Neeson is fun to watch in these types of roles.
I'm trying to go for an entertaining, informative youtube channel so, if you have the time, take a look. Hope you enjoy what you see and if you have any thoughts or criticisms, i'd love to hear them. Thanks in advance. Review right here-https://youtu.be/G_Kkt7UuA0I

I thought the ending was great. I'd like to see a whole movie on how he brings down the whole network.
