Solid movie... Really shows up the absurdity of the manchild characters (the son & the moma's boy boyfriend)...
I wish they had more of these themes in movies, rather than pandering to and encouraging the manboy condition...

Welles and Woodward's characters were arguably also overgrown babies struggling to find their identity or confront the reality of what they wanted from life. The world is overrun with men and women like this.
That said, I've zero issue with anyone who has an interest in general inner happiness and contentment rather than chasing money or giving in to ancient biological urges to have a kid. What made the above named characters tragic in this was that they clearly wanted relationships and/or careers but that they got so hamstrung about pursuing this and instead just flopped around ineffectually.
So yes. Good themes combined with decent characterisations and acting (although not sure about Welles or his son) make this a winner.
