Sandra Bullock (whom I love) is Debbie Ocean, as in Danny Ocean's sister. So, she's in the same universe as the original trilogy...but Danny does not appear in this? At all?
Boo-urns.

For a franchise that sells itself on it's slickness, they sure have picked the least coolest bunch of actresses they could possibly find (Blanchette aside).
I could think of a million actresses with more kudos that they could have chosen.

It's too soon to remake this film a 2nd time.

I like Sandra. And Cate.
But, wouldn't Helen Mirren or Rene Russo have been great for female versions of Carl Reiner and Elliott Gould?

It's not films with a female led cast that I have a problem with but shit films with a female led cast.

I'm curious why Ocean's Eight was removed from the Ocean's Collection. While not that great a movie (and yes, better actresses could have been chosen), it is still in the Ocean's universe and should be in that collection.

Oh, I do think it's a cynical ploy. I don't think the Hollywood studios really give a crap about feminism. They just see it as a fad they can make money from. And that's why many of them turn out to be bad. Women led films are often either coldly made by studios that want to cash in or by writers and directors who have an agenda. Either way the end result comes out forced and manipulative.
The way it should be done is naturally. Women should be written realistically, with depth and as part of an organic narrative.

Completely agree, it was the women trying to the men, and the way it tried to be clever and smug about it fell completely flat.
Everything about this was so unnatural (I hate to say it, but even Bullock's face); there was no depth whatsoever. Zero emotional investment in the characters. In fact, Debbie Ocean was completely unlikeable, highlighted from the beginning when she conned the department store worker.
Very, very disappointed because it was a such a great cast.

Haha. That's one thing that really goes against portraying women naturally and realistically in films. The propensity for aging actresses to fill their faces with plastic surgery. I hate it. I find it hard to take them seriously. Why can't they grow old with dignity? They just look like a joke. It certainly doesn't make me perceive Sandra Bullock as cool. And it doesn't make them relatable to women or inspire as role models for them either.

Completely agree - I've always been a fan of Sandra Bullock but she just looked....like Michael Jackson in this. I mean, even the younger actresses like Awkwafina and Kaling looked caked in make up and/or had plastic surgery!

Well, TMDb "Collections" are primarily about direct sequels/prequels. Far as I know (and I haven't seen the movie yet), there are no characters from the Clooney/Pitt team.
Yes, it is within the Ocean's universe, but TMDb collections don't accommodate "universes" right now (with the single exception of the Bond universe, for whatever reason).
FWIW, TMDb is "working on" creating universes.
