Discuss Phillauri

I saw it in a USA theater. There were no English subtitles for the song lyrics. Normally this would not be a problem. But one of the most important plot points was about who wrote poems that were published and turned into songs, during the ghost's life. The lyrics created a connection between two key characters. English subtitles of the lyrics would tell the story better.

I agree with an Indian Express reviewer, who wrote "The pacing is not just languid, it is positively slow, and it allows scenes to go on for much longer than they should." With better editing, the film could have added a scene with the haunted man's wedding at the end, and try to connect the dual stories. But it was a nice film worth seeing, with interesting visual effects of the ghost.

Avoid reading Andy Webster's review for The New York Times, since he spoils the film by giving away the ending. He should not be allowed to write film reviews. (They can have him write more fake news instead.) A better review: (http://www.indiewire.com/2017/03/phillauri-review-anushka-sharma-bollywood-1201796944/)
