Good attempt. Different, unique, and the sets are great. Yeah, it has some weak points, and some of the writing/editing could have been better. But this is a refreshing change in the usual sci-fi stuff that has been coming out. Marvel and DC are flooding the market with their super heroes (not all bad, just too much) I detest all these vampire/werewolf/zombie crap (all of it) his is a nice change, and I enjoyed it!

I think that a lot of the "copycat" criticisms are like those aimed at "John Carter". Sure, there have been many things that used those ideas before the film, but the source material was, for it's time, pretty original.

I loved John Carter. That was awesome!

JOHN CARTER IS AWESOME..MORTAL ENGINES IS HOT TRASH.

I thoroughly enjoyed Mortal Engines sure it not "high" cinema but I thought the visuals and worldbuilding and story to be refreshing and the characters enjoyable compared to the rather formulaic movies Hollywood has been putting out the last couple of years. Also this movie should be taken by Hollywood as an example how to portray more racial and gender diversity in a movie without hitting the viewer over the head with it's message something Hollywood has increasingly been doing the last couple of years.(also liked John Carter although I was biased I knew John Carter from the late 70's comics)

Read the Mortal Engine books. The ending of the first is a lot less like the ending of "Star Wars" and the ending of the series was certainly not the ending I expected, but was absolutely brilliant.

See we not always disagree with each other but I can't for the love of God understand why a movie like Captain Marvel got higher reviews from the critics than this movie this was far better and far more original .
