Hell Fest has a good premise, but it's pictation of what's happening on the big screen I think is more geared toward the mind set of around the 14 though about the 30 age crowd. I say this since the actors portrayed their characters in a way in which they think how younger people act, (not done very realistically) and they did it in a way that was overstylized or maybe even a little bit over the top. Not that acting that way in it self is bad, hell that same kind of acting was very similar in what I saw in Popcorn, but for some reason I accepted it more in Popcorn than I did in Hell Fest. In watching Popcorn I didn't know what to expect, and it turned out to be quirky and fun... I think that's because Popcorn mostly took place in a movie theatre (a place I like very much.) The same type of quirkiness doesn't (at least to me) work as well in Hell Fest. I think the reason is, there's lots of people who have experienced going through haunted house attractions in one point of their life and so there's a reference to recall from real life personal experiences. Bad events taking place in a movie theatre is not exactly what one would expect, so there's no expectations with which to draw from past experiences...hence the element of surprise, or lack thereof in the case of Hell Fest.

I did however like in Hell Fest, how most of the movie takes place in what seems to be like a bigger event than just going to a haunted house attraction. It was more like going to a county or state fair that's set up for the sole purpose of a huge annual event and that was portrayed very well in the movie.

I can't wait to see it and your review makes me want to check it out on redbox

Glad you liked the review! I don't think that has ever happened to me before...where I have written about a movie and in some way brought about enough excitement for someone to actually take the time to watch one particular movie. Watching Hell Fest on Redbox, or any other type of movie channel/movie on demand is by the way, I think the way to see it for economical reasons...as I'm pretty sure many would be upset to have spent the full admission price of $10 or more at your local movie theatre. I watched it as a 2nd showing at my local drive-in. My admission? $5.50 for a double feature. So yea, the $2.75 spent on Hell Fest was well worth the admission!

That's pretty cheap. Here it costs ten dollars for a ticket and another ten for snacks. I loved popcorn when I rented it, gave me a Halloween II vibe and I get how you can connect with haunted houses. The trailers looked promising. Good to see a nice review.

I know I'm a bit late to the party, but watching it now. I'm near the end and having a blast with it! I really like what they do with the park for added atmosphere. I do think they left some gore on the cutting room floor, and the first few kills needed some realism added, but it still works well enough! It's definitely a good time!

That's ok. I take it you saw it from some type of home video release. I'm used to seeing movies at the drive-in which I go to every week, so I'm used to seeing most of what comes out when it first comes out and that's when I usually (try) to write about what I've seen. Then of course I'm used to people chiming in some time later when others do get around to seeing on one of the many home video releases.

If you liked the movie Popcorn, your really going to like Hell Fest

This doesn't bode well for Hell Fest then, Barn. That makes a total of ten folks who are going to really like it

That's funny! Well, I do think it takes a special person to like Popcorn (the movie) and that's why I made that comment! Also your assessment of my thoughts about Hell Fest fits in line with how I really thought about it. A big clue, the drive-in I go to on a weekly basis has nine screens, and that movie was only there for about two to three weeks.
