First off, finally got to watch this movie after waiting for it for months. I'm not entirely sure how I feel about this movie, initially I didn't like it but the more I think about it - the more I can appreciate the idea behind it but I'm not sure about the execution.
The group seem to come out of nowhere with little to no hints about who they are other than they are basically the Government to David & Glass's X-men. It honestly feels like they were thrown in there because "twist".
The first part of the movie was solid but really seemed to go downhill in the last 10-15 minutes or so. The score was a total winner in my eyes and the performances were spot on.
I've got the movie rated as 2/5 right now simply because of the ending, I might rewatch the trilogy in a month or so and see how I feel about the overall arch.

I think you're right, but too generous in your summary. I'd say the first two films were ok, this one really wasn't. It was so dull. Only when the explanation came in the final few minutes did it sort of make sense as an overarching story, but it was too late by then. The delivery needed to be far more engaging and far less smug.
