The CGI Dog?

I can't be alone in wondering what the deal is with the dog. Were they even trying to make it look realistic, or were they going for like a Roger Rabbit kind of thing?

There probably was a real dog under all the CGI. Or maybe all CGI

They needed to add dog emotions, how will you do that without CGI?

Yeah the movie definitely has a Disney tone because of the animation.
