An obvious choice, but South Korea has now officially selected Parasite as its entry for next year's Oscars. I am fairly confident that it will finally win the country its long-overdue first nomination, and a win is very possible - it's such a widely loved crowdpleaser, Palme d'or winner and doing big box office in this territories where it has already been released (here in Singapore it's been in cinemas for a couple of months).
It'll be interesting to watch how it does on US release, and how it fares in the early awards voting... if it does well in the critics awards at the end of the year it could actually help it into more categories than merely the 'foreign language' ghetto.

Hey bro! Thanks for all the Singapore tips! Singapore was absolutely amazing!
But yeah here in the USA the buzz is REAL about Parasite everyone is talking about it and strangely enough without any spoilers. I finally saw it the other night and was blown away for I had no clue what I was watching.
Usually the film that wins Palm d'or does win an Oscar as well. I'm wondering if it would be as picture of the year or as best foreign film?

Just watched it on $5 Tuesday last night..I gotta admit, VERY VERY good film, had me cringing a few times from some intense scenes..mostly of the "don't get caught dumba$$" variety..lol.
6 Oscar Noms including Best Foreign Language Film and Best Picture...I don't see it winning the latter, but I'd most DEFINITELY put money on it winning the former!
