I went into this thinking it would not follow the path of the story, and more or less just accepting it. The only thing I could guess is just for creative liberties. I don't know, but I just take these things as reimaginings more than anything I guess. I suppose it wasn't as ridiculous as the Gotham By Gaslight story. I know it is apples and oranges, by comparison. I can watch it for what it is, while still knowing/understanding it is not truly a canon story.
