Just got back from seeing this today; despite what the advertising might say, this film is definitely not a comedy. What efforts are made at humor are extremely awkward, and I believe this was by design.
I saw this mainly because I wanted to see Will Ferrell try out a dramatic role, and though he'll certainly win no awards, I thought he put in a good effort as a husband and a father who knows he has done something very wrong, and struggles to admit this even to himself.
I also liked Zach Woods' character, as he tries to reach out to Ferrell's character despite what Ferrell has done, and after Ferrell's wife in the movie (played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus) has all but abandoned him-- we need more forgiveness in this world.
Not a phenomenal film by any stretch, but a worthwhile effort and worth the watch; I'd give it a 5 or a 6 out of 10.

I saw a trailer which made it look like a comedy so if I do see it I'll be prepared when it is not.
If you want to see WF in a straight role all all the way through a movie let me recommend the 2006 Stranger than Fiction I liked it overall though it has its faults. The plot is a bit in the Charlie Kauffman style, popular back then. A cast of familiar faces and great Chicago locations. I also really liked the making of features on the DVD.

What need was there to remake a good movie like Tourist (Forza Mggiore) of 2014? Why does the US have the arrogance that it can do better what others have already done very well?

The part with the helicopter was the worst part for me,it was so stupid.I don't understand why he didn't just get on the helicopter without his family. The wife made WAY too big a deal about the boy losing his glove.
