Don't know. I tried showing this several times to people, but the lack of dialogue had them tuning out in minutes (going to their cell phones, talking among themselves about other things, or leaving to do something else). I liked it watching it in the theaters (and own a copy myself), but it doesn't hold up well to the home viewing crowd.

People want bigger and better and shinier. Only a select few films will always stay a classic. But I completely agree, RW was way better than FR.

I love the first Mad Max and sat down full of expectation. My confidence took a knock with the first scene (was this cartoon character meant to be Max?). I tolerated the extended chase at the start, maybe it was a set piece and the film would relent and ease into ripping yarn. But by the time Theron is being chased by the absurd hodge-podge of characters all hope was lost. This was going to be mindless cinema at its Max-imum.

I found this bordering on diabolical and it is probably the film with the single biggest disconnect between my perspective and oscar/popular opinion. A film about Redemption with almost no redeeming qualities (barring production values). The characters were completely undeveloped with Theron and Hardy utterly unconvincing in ever facet. The stunts, which I'm sure were daredevil, don't even create awe on when removed from the big screen.

This is not snobbery about action films. Some of my favourite films are machismo filled action films. Predator, Terminator 2, The Killer - films that mesh top flight action within the framework of an engaging tale. But this...?

In the end, the one consolation is that at least it was the director of original who was responsible for this, rather than someone else pooping all over his legacy.
