Item: The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild
Language: en-US
Type of Problem: Design_issue
Extra Details: This movie is a sequel & newest part of the Ice Age Collection. It follows the other films, even starts with a recap of the previous films. The Ice Age Collection does not seem to have it & seems to have been locked, presumably to prevent the addition of the shorts I assume, & there is no way to add this new film to it

This movie is a spin-off centered on the adventures of Buck and not a direct sequel. As such, it should not be part of this collection.

The movie is actually NOT focused on Buck, it is a direct continuation of the story. The movie starts with a recap of the other movies, then the possums from the the main party get separated from the group, THEY go on adventures WITH Buck, while the rest of the crew is trying to find them. See {Trailer}
In the trailer it specifically says
The only real difference is that this is the 1st one Made & Released through Disney.
If another comes out & you did not watch this one you would be skipping a chapter & likely need a recap to understand where things stand.
According to The Bible: As a general rule, a sequel is a film which:
All of these Apply
Remakes, reboots or spin-offs are usually not grouped with their predecessors. They typically are:
NONE of these Apply
According to The TMdb Guidelines This movie qualifies as a Sequel, & anyone who has seen it, or even the trailer would agree

I quote the Wikipedia Ice Age page : "A spin-off film, The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild, was released exclusively on Disney+ on January 28, 2022. Simon Pegg was the only returning actor."
As well as the Wikipedia page of the movie: "It is a spin-off of the Ice Age franchise"

Wikipedia: For the Movie
On the Franchise Wikipedia page it does say that Simon Pegg is the only returning ACTOR, but then specifies that the other CHARACTERS are returning voiced by other actors
On Disney's (The Current Franchise owner) site they say about the Movie:
Buck is introduced in the 3rd film, Crash & Eddie, the main characters in this movie, are introduced in the 2nd film. They aren't minor side characters, nor is it a side quest unrelated to the main story progression. Continental Drift is as much if not more tangential to the main story progression. After the 1st film each film has lots of ensemble stories that branch off into different directions & follow different characters, & the original main cast becomes less & less focal from Dawn of the Dinosaurs onward.
According to the Rules for the Collections what rule disqualifies it?
As I said, It meets all the requirements according to The Bible listing you linked. & It meets none of the things that would disqualify it. You stated that it being a Spin-Off is the problem, but according to The Bible
It then specifies reasons:
Which it is not
Which it also is not.
The trailer I linked shows that it is NOT "centered on the adventures of Buck" but rather focuses as the main story follow 2 character, Crash & Eddie, who have been Main Characters since the 2nd film. The other lead characters are indeed changing from Focal characters to supporting characters, But the same thing happens MANY times in other Series that are grouped, Star Wars does this in just about every Film, Jumanji has a completely different cast, & the structure of how the magic game works completely changes, but it IS a continuation of the events of the 1st Movie.
If it's not allowed because it violates the requirements I'll drop it, but I need to understand what Rule it is violating. Because it fits ALL of the requirements outlined for what a "True movie sequel" is.
According to the CAST listing from the Wikipedia page you linked

It's a close call, but I would side with the user in this case. Do we need one more opinion @superboy97 to break the tie?

I think the spinoff should be removed from the collection.

Just to be clear, this is not a voting situation. Please take the time to explain why the argumentation presented above is wrong. As mentioned it was a close call.

While the spinoff may have continued from the sequels, it's still a spin-off.
Hobbs & Shaw also recapped and mentioned events from the previous movies but it's not included in the F&F collection as it's a spinoff.

A big difference with that is that if you don't watch Hobbs & Shaw you don't know you missed anything. If another Ice Age Film comes out & you missed this one you will be confused because it is a direct progression of the story, including most of the main characters from the franchise. It doesn't spin off to show a side adventure of a couple characters & then rejoin the main characters with them being non-the-wiser about what happened, the main characters are involved in the story. The other main characters are looking for Crash & Eddie, who have been main characters since film 2, while they have an adventure with another character who has been with the franchise for a long time, but has been mostly a minor character, this is his 1st time in the Spotlight, just like the other films have focused on different characters & shifted the main focal characters, this is exactly on-brand for the franchise
The biggest difference with this film is that it's the 1st done by Disney, who now owns the franchise, they have done some things differently, but in Disney fashion that is not likely to ever change back. Disney is not good with sticking to continuity, & have no problem with directly contradicting their other stories. This is just the Disney way, & hasn't been bad in this film at all. The focus has become more cutesy & merch-pushing & less story-driven, but that's what Disney does. For a lot of things it's just the way of the world now A true spin-off would be something like the Scrat shorts, it doesn't affect the story, if there was a movie all about Scrat, that'd be a Spin-Off.
