Discuss The Beekeeper

Keeping a straight face when her character queried the "trace" of a British accent in Jason Statham's voice was a masterclass in acting. The other Brits in the cast pretending to be American (or South African) were at least a bit more convincing.

Otherwise, a fun action flick. Not sure why it's getting such good reviews as, while it's very enjoyable for this sort of thing, it's the sort of film that critics usually dismiss.

I am usually entertained by most of Statham's movies (although I haven't seen all of them) BUT this movie is so bad! From the very beginning, it stunk. The writer's decision to go along with the tired trope that older people are clueless when it comes to 'technology' really pissed me off. Most of the characters were ridiculous, Josh Hutcherson as a sleazeball villain ๐Ÿ™„? The first assassin (Anisette) that was sent to kill Clay was a 'cartoon villain' along with Lazarus. I thought I was watching a spoof of a Tarantino film. The use of the word fuck over 100 times was unnecessary. It took me 3 different times to finally finish this piece of crap! I gave it a 3/10 & that's being generous. However, it would have gained another star if Statham had taken off his shirt. He was so 'buttoned-up' during the whole movie, we didn't even get to see him change into his diving gear at the end! ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ˜

Try working as a call centre employee regarding customer accounts or applications then you'll know for yourself how useless elderly people are with technology. For once a Jason Statham movie is realistic.

They say they're educated too the second they feel spoken down to.

She was a teacher, though. I work as a technician/network manager in three schools and most of the "problems" I fix for teachers are done by checking power is on at the plug and all the leads are plugged into the correct ports, turning the source on the screen to the laptop and pressing Windows + P (to switch to duplicate view, even though this is set as the default). This applies for all of them, from the "fresh out of university" to the "can I retire soon, please?" ones.
