That was pretty cool. I can’t remember if it was in the original Seven Samurai, but I feel like it was perfect in this version. All along he was torn between his cultural (farm boy) roots vs being a gunslinger, and when he chooses to stay with the girl it’s like his character comes full circle to his roots.

I watched this movie today. Great stuff. Tomorrow, we watch the Seven Samurai. If I remember correctly, the young man and the persistent follower were two different characters in that one. Here, they combined the two into one.
