Simon Baker (geboren am 30. Juli 1969 und 1,77m groß) ist ein Australischer Schauspieler und Regisseur. Am bekanntesten ist er für seine Rolle in der CBS Fernsehserie „The Mentalist“ als Patrick Jane. Ebenfalls bekannt ist er für seine Rolle als Nicholas Fallin in der Serie „The Guardian“.

In seiner Filmkarriere ist er am bekanntesten für die Hauptrolle in dem Film „Land of the Dead“ als Riley Denbo und als Christian Thompson in „Der Teufel trägt Prada“.

Simon Baker wurde als Sohn von Elizabeth Labberton, einer Englischlehrerin an einer High-School am 30. Juli 1969 in Launceston, Tasmanien geboren. Sein Vater Barry Baker war Mechaniker und Platzwart. Er wurde Römisch-Katholisch erzogen. Seine Eltern schieden sich als er noch jung war. Seine Mutter heiratete später den Metzger Tom Denny. Simon Baker hat neben einer Schwester die als Ärztin in Australien arbeitet auch noch drei jüngere Brüder. Im Jahre 1972 zog die Familie nach Ballina, New South Wales. Die Eltern erhofften sich dort die Chance auf besser bezahle Jobs. 1986 absolvierte er die High-School als Simon Baker-Denny.

Simon Baker was born to a high school English teacher, Elizabeth Labberton, and a groundskeeper/mechanic, Barry Baker, on 30 July 1969, in Launceston, Tasmania. He was raised as a Roman Catholic. His parents divorced while he was still young. His mother later married Tom Denny, a butcher. Simon Baker also has a sister, currently a doctor in Australia, and three younger half brothers. By 1972, the family had moved from Launceston to Ballina, New South Wales, where Baker's parents hoped to secure better paying jobs. In 1986, he graduated from Ballina High School as Simon Baker-Denny, after completing his primary school education at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Primary School, also in Ballina.
