There are three movies I remember him from. "The Maltese Falcon, 1941" (as Sam Spade), "Casablanca, 1943" (as Rick Blaine) and "The Big Sleep, 1946" (as Philip Marlowe). Wearing a trench coat and a fedora hat, and with his look ("Here's looking at you, kid") he will always be the quintessential private detective to me. Even when he played other roles, like in "Casablanca". slight_smile

My fave Bogie movies are The Petrified Forest, The Big Sleep, and The African Queen. But I'm also a definite fan of the other films you mentioned.

Have to put in a word for Key Largo !! Great film.

Yes: Everyone's terrific in that film!
