Discuss Henry Cavill

These days, you can’t get past the entertainment section without any news about another actress telling their own harassment experience from Weinstein or other ‘predators’ in Hollywood. Even some actors are coming out with their own bad experiences (James van der Beek, Anthony Rapp, etc.).

So far, HC’s been very quiet about this hot topic in Hollywood. I can understand if he’d rather not share his opinion about it, but I do wonder if he too experienced some of the horrible experiences some actors and actresses described in their early days in Hollywood.

HC was quite young when he got cast in The Count of Monte Cristo and made his way to Hollywood auditioning to get parts, so he could have met some ‘predators’ in Hollywood.

Any thoughts?

I imagine HC was propositioned or even harassed. In my opinion, there is no doubt. He was younger and even prettier back in the day. Most importantly, he had no safety net, meaning he didn't have the protection of nepotism. However, hearing how he molested Richard Dreyfus' son, I guess nepotism wasn't much protection.

Plus, you add he was in the company of Bryan Singer, who is even bigger than Weinstein and just as horrible, if not more. I'm sure BS couldn't resist HC, when he saw him. I mean he is gorgeous and talent isn't HC strong suit. I believe something went down and lines were crossed.

HC would never tell the story, because he plays it too safe and is guarded. He was probably concerned about his career and doubted anyone would believe him.

Wait a sec, who is the ‘he’ who molested Richard Dreyfus’ son? I didn’t even hear about the Dreyfus story.

Kevin F*ckn Spacey made the moves on Richard Dreyfus newly 18 year old son, while the father and son went over to Kevin's apartment for a reading. Apparently, he grabbed the boy's private parts right in front of Richard Dreyfus, but RD didn't see it, because he was reading a script.

Is Cavill an actor or columnist?

You actually expect sane people to speculate if someone was the victim of rape or sexual harassment? So on this thread, it's ok to (hypothetically) make someone the victim of something horrible like rape or sexual harassment based on assumptions, hearsay and gossip.

Even people who were actually raped or sexually harassed would like to rid themselves of that horrifying load. But since you're the one who made this thread, you obviously think that it is fine to put that kind of load on someone based on speculations.

Whoa! Now you're sure Cavill was propositioned or even sexually harassed?

Even people who were actually sexually harassed don't like to have that sticker on their foreheads. Now you think it's ok to put that sticker on someone based on speculations.

There's something really wrong with you and ToniTurnyne. You two obviously don't know how serious rape or sexual harassment is. Like always, you simply don't care that you'll hurt someone by making them the victim of these vile acts or you simply love the idea that you'll hurt someone by making them the victim of these vile acts.

I don’t think having a family member in the business can protect you from ‘predators’. Gwyneth also shared her own story about HW, and it was quite surprising given her parents also worked in the industry and I think Steven Spielberg is a godfather to her because he’s a friend of her late father.

Although I believe Goop's story, I have to turn up my nose at her. She said it started with her first role w/HW and yet she did another until she got an Oscar. All the while, she's all hugged up with HW, while holding her Oscar and even later. She never missed an opportunity to be seen w/HW, if they were in the same room.

Interesting how she was (and some other celebs) were kissing HW's butt, for so many years when he was making her famous and filling her bank account. Totally self-serving.

Goop knew exactly what he was about and did and said NOTHING at all.

Yes, I know this is usual for victims to keep silent but she didn't have to work w/him again nor hug him at parties.

Now, she is ready to pile on because his star is falling, and he can no longer do anything for her. As I said, totally self-serving.

This is not about speaking out as it is more to look politically correct.

I didn’t watch all of the interview, but I do find it interesting that Ben’s group (ie him, Jason and the guy playing Cyborg) was asked about the ‘harassment’ issue, but not HC (or did I miss it?). I suppose it’s because Ben is known to have connections with the Weinstens/Miramax and has his own harassment issues with himself and his bro (Casey) so he’s in hotter water. However, both Jason and the other guy, as far as I know, had no connections with Harvey W, but their opinions/comments were still sought. The interviewer didn’t ask the same question to HC though.

Also I wonder if it was deliberate for HC to be interviewed separately from the other JL cast (particularly Ben). Or was HC’s interview done on a different date because he was not available?

All interesting points, Toni. HC was interviewed on the same day by himself with the same interviewer.

Questions are usually vetted by the studio’s PR and the stars’ own publicists. I wonder if HC’s own publicist specifically asked the interviewers not to ask him that question. I’ve read that there are some stars that are deliberately avoiding the usual carpet walk before an event to avoid being asked about the Weinstein and other harassment issues.

True.

It's funny he's not interviewed alone w/Affleck any more. I guess we can't expect to see any more memes.

Another celeb tossed into the ring of fire. Charlie Sheen.

Very good point here!

I read an article where a psychologist says it's typical for a victim of sexual harassment to exhibit traits of Stockholm Syndrome, so I wonder if that explains the reason Goop's kissing HW's ass despite what he's done to her. But it sounds a bit of a stretch, and it doesn't explain why she suddenly decided to speak up now.

I know this might sound callous but I suspect most of those who shared their stories (not those who said they were raped by HW) were all willing participants of the so-called "Hollywood games" but now decided to pile on because it'd make them look suspect if they kept silent.

Well, she can't look bad. Her followers were bombarding her on her social media about why she isn't speaking about HW. It only served Goop to speak, because it wasn't a good look for her.

Of course, this scandal has a cast of characters: some good, bad, and complicit.
