"That's because the studio has shifted its focus to a Supergirl movie, which will be an origin story featuring a teen superheroine. This effectively removes an actor of Cavill's age from the storyline's equation given that Superman, aka Kal-El, would be an infant, according to DC lore."
I know it wasn't over scheduling conflicts. The would not get rid of an actor that they really like because he cannot do a cameo in Shazam! Maybe they just don't have plans for an MOS 2.
I saw somewhere online that they're considering Michael B. Jordan as Supes.
At first I thought you were joking, but I Googled and a lot of reputable sites are saying he is being considered.
I wouldn't like him as Superman. Sure pick someone black, but MBJ looks short and maybe HC has spoiled me into thinking Superman has got to be handsome as all he ll.
That'd send comicbook purists screaming to the floor.

That quote is total B.S. It's only to soften the blow. Case in point, they mentioned talks broke down during Shazam, so they were considering reprising HC's role as Superman, but shyt happened and it wasn't Supergirl.

Bingo!
Plus, we all know HC didn't have anything lined up at the time.

Okay, Grace is on fire with her breakdown of events. She said that HC and Dany made a hardball move and said that HC was unavailable to do a cameo for Shazam.

On the news about him not being Superman anymore, let me quote the parrot, Iago from Aladdin:
I think I will have a heart attack from that surprise! (Yes, I am being sarcastic!)
In the many discussions we had over in the old IMDB, I have mentioned that he only has to look at what happened to Andrew Garfield (another English actor) to know that he is expendable. The studio making these super hero movies can get rid of him at anytime.
As I recall AG’s Spiderman’s movies weren’t doing too well in the box office, a lot of fans didn’t like his angsty Peter Parker, and then he pissed off Sony for refusing to show up in some big function they wanted him to attend. So off he goes. Here in a parallel universe, HC’s MOS, BvS and JL didn’t do so well either, fans found his Superman too dark (thanks to Snyder), then he turns down WB’s request for a cameo, and is even playing hardball in negotiations? Oh my!
Let’s also not forget Brandon Routh who suddenly got booted out, and even Edward Norton as the Hulk (because they said he was also not a team player).
I am surprised his manager was not attuned to these historical precedents, and didn’t advise her client better.

They'll poop in their diapers and get over it.
It is more likely they won’t get over it and boycott the film. The concept of another African-American actor playing Superman is not new. Will Smith, at the height of his fame, was approached to play it but he wisely turned it down:
As I recall, when Johnny Storm was recast with an African-American actor in the Fantastic Four that didn’t turn out well. The movie was a major flop, though the bad script and crazy director didn’t help either.
With the success of Black Panther, why does Superman have to be recast as a black hero? Why not create new black heroes? DC has Cyborg so why not make a movie with him? They already have Black Lightning on TV.

She mentioned it at 1:55
She said it could be a move by WB to get him to do the cameo and for less money.

WB's PR statement:
I notice that they did not come out and dispute THR statement that HC was out. All they tweeted was about a relationship.
As I said in an earlier post, HC knew feathers were ruffled way back in April when he and Dany had that meeting w/WB.

Ohhhh Grace, Preach it! Her theory does make sense. That is was not really just about the cameo, but about HC and/or DG using that as leverage.
