The search or filter on search function is not working properly. Although I filter for films between 2020 and 2025, it shows me old films.

By keeping "search all releases?" checked, you are searching all releases and all release types, worldwide. Those items will have a release somewhere in the world within your search window.
For example, see the releases for A Trip to the Moon. You can see there is a physical release in 2020.
You have two options that can help, depending what you're looking for:
You can unselect "search all releases?" and also "search all countries?" to get more specific with the filters that you're looking for.
You can play with the release type (not selecting things like physical, or perhaps limited theatrical for example).
Thanks for the info, I have understood it. However, I question the meaningfulness of the results because no matter how you turn it around, the results are somehow meaningless as some mediocre movies are displayed before the world's best cult movies.

There is no classification by historical or cultural importance.
In other words, Cult Movies come first.
In your example image, the classification chosen is by Release Date Ascending.
Try using Descending Rating.
Maybe combined with User Score at 7.
