It's into season 10 now. Detective William Murdoch (Yannick Bisson) of the Toronto Constabulary, is very clever, a great detective and also an inventor.
An excellent supporting cast...
When the series began it was set in the late 1800s. What's really interesting how the show progresses year to year, we sees the invention of the light globe, phone, finger printing, surveillance, and trace evidence; that light where you can see blood after it's been wiped off (can't remember the name lol) etc
The appearance of some very well known characters: Buffalo Bill Cody, Annie Oakley, H G Wells, Nikola Tesla, Wilfrid Laurier, Jack London, Arthur Conan Doyle, Queen Victoria, Oliver Mowat, Orville and Wilbur Wright, Henry Ford, Sir Winston Churchill, Bat Masterson, Alexander Graham Bell, Emma Goldman, Harry Houdini and Thomas Edison (ref: Wikipedia)
A real joy to watch.

This is possibly my favorite show on TV. When I first discovered it, I binge-watched all 90-something (at the time) episodes and have re-watched most of them multiple times. I also own seasons 1-9 on DVD.
Am I obsessed? Possibly!

Oh I love it too. This is one series that has maintained it's quality and is still a joy to watch

Locally, this show is broadcast by a "religious TV" channel on Saturday afternoons and evenings, which took some time to find. For a while, the channel repeated seasons 3 and 4, which drove me away. By chance, I discovered that they had begun broadcasting season 5, which takes Detective Murdoch into the 20th century. One of these days I will have to buy the "missing seasons," since KWHE Honolulu shows no signs of actively promoting this series in any way.:(

Ovation TV is the only channel that is up to date with Murdoch. Unfortunately, they only show it during the day now, so those of us who work for a living can't watch it without DVR'ing it. Ovation doesn't seem to have OnDemand. Luckily, I subscribe to Acorn, and they started showing season 10 only 3 months or so after the CBC started showing it.

I've found a YouTube channel that has a large number of "Murdoch Mysteries" available to stream at will. As with some channels, the frame size is less than half of the total window, the audio pitch is strange, and I wonder how this slips past the copyright holder. Still, it is great to see Season 1 episodes as well as others I've missed due to forgetfulness or setting the wrong cable TV channel to record. As for how different the pitch is, "Murdoch" comes across as a tad "Chipmunky.";) I'm off to consider how many more episodes to watch between live feeds of other TV shows on YouTube.;)

Ovation TV has finally dropped the "Artful Detective" alias as they begin to broadcast season 12, but have kept their weird reversed introduction. (I guess that's what makes them an "ARTY TV channel.") They're doing the "back-to-back" thing, broadcasting two episodes on SATURDAY, which smells like "burn this series off ASAP so we can put 'The Wine Show' back on." Oh well, this will have to do, since they've "reset the broadcast clock" for "Midsomer Murders," which stopped at season 6. (Also, no final season for "Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries," either.:(
