I saw it and the first season was light-hearted and enjoyable. As it was meant to be aired before the 9 p.m. (UK) watershed, the crime mysteries were uncomplicated and suitable for children to watch.

They still have to get the balance right between the time allocated to crime solving and the soapy drama. There is just too much of the latter. The first episode is good, but towards the end of the series all that drama became annoyingly disruptive.

Fortunately there was the lovable quirky DI Humphrey Goodman (Kris Marshall) to keep me entertained. He did get dragged down a bit by all this personal drama and his Chief Superintendent threatening to close the local police station, but at least he has his duck.

Let's hope series two settles down with less drama and more crime solving.
