Año 1333, el shogunato de Kamakura se desmorona. Ashikaga Takauji, uno de los vasallos de confianza del shogunato, lo traiciona y organiza una rebelión. Hojo Tokiyuki, heredero legítimo, logra huir de la masacre junto a un sacerdote sintoista llamado Suwa Yorisige y llega hasta Kamakura.

A Kunitoki, el hijo mayor del shogun, lo dejan a cargo de su tío Godaiin Muneshige para que le proteja de los guerreros enemigos. Sin embargo, Godaiin tenía otros planes para él.

Yorishige Suwa intenta convencer a Tokiyuki de que realmente tiene poderes divinos para que se aplique en sus estudios. Esta vez, el joven aprenderá una lección enfrentándose a una bestia salvaje en la montaña.

Tokiyuki reigns in the new year for the first time in Suwa. As the chaos from the downfall lulls throughout the country, skirmishes still break out here and there, and another crisis knocks on Suwa’s doors.
