Ok I get that it's never good to undermine authority figures, cause with some of them their ego is inflated, that if it gets popped they feel embarrassed. The new district fire chief got mad that Boden was more observant that he was and noticed something was wrong with concrete pipes and went around him to get it done. Instead of getting upset, the district fire chief should've been thankful that Boden helped him out. I do understand that he was recently promoted and wanted to look good for the rest of the team, but it doesn't mean you have to be an ass when someone go over your head and goes beyond the call of duty. As shown, the district chief could've seriously gotten the other firefighters hurt or god forbid killed had those pipes broken free.
I also agree that if you have a beef with someone, you deal with them directly instead of getting other people involved. Regardless of his beef with Boden, he shouldn't have tried to embarrass him or break the team up because of it. Sure he could've gotten Boden suspended but that wouldn't have made a difference to Boden because his team would've done fine without him. This prick decides to break up the team because he thinks that without his dream team around, Boden will get upset and retaliate and that's what the district chief is hoping for. He wants to make Boden a loose cannon, so that Boden is permanently removed as fire chief of 51.
