Series 1 Pilot, final scene:

DI Thursday: "What you got to ask is, where do you see yourself in twenty years?"

While adjusting the rear-view mirror of his car, Endeavour looks in it and sees the face of Morse (John Thaw).

DI Thursday: "Morse? Endeavour."
