In my opinion, that was correct. Because according to the BBC website, the Polar Special is part of Season 9 (see link)[S09E07]. And it is wrongly classified in the extras.

The Polar Special is also listed as a film, but I would consider that OK. Because it is also available on DVD.

Maybe that was a mistake. Because I also noticed that episode 6 was called Polar Special. But that was definitely wrong too, I've already changed it. But I can't add episode 7 again because the season has been blocked.

As per this archived page of the BBC website from 2008, the episode was originally listed by the BBC as a Special (In-season episodes have a "Series X Episode X" designation, the Polar Special does not).

The BBC have since changed that and included the episode in Season 9. However, TMDB rules are to list episodes as they were originally listed by the broadcaster. Therefore the Polar Special episode should be listed in the Specials season and not in Season 9.

This archive is best than nothing, but isn't an absolute proof as it has been taken one year after the broadcast. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find an archive from 2007. I think we can consider it as correct as I doubt that the BBC would have first change this episode from regular to special and later from special to regular.

But, when was this episode really broadcasted for the first time ?

  • Based on the archive of the episode page, it was on July 25, 2007
  • But, your archive of the episode list indicate that the broadcast of July 25, 2007 is a repeat.

2008 was also the closest archive page I could find.

The current episode page on the BBC site lists all airings (below the credits), including repeats, so I believe July 25, 2007 is correct. I suspect the "repeat" part on the archive page will be because it had been repeated by 2008.
