Around season 3, the whole secrets and lies between them lasted six seasons too long. Him refusing to tell her the truth made him look bad especially pushing her away into Lex's arms and her demanding everyone around her be 100% with her and her attitude towards Clark for not telling her his secret made her seem insufferable.
After that superhero shows Arrow, Flash and Supergirl have had love interests and sidekicks being let in on the hero's secret a lot quicker than Smallville did.

Yeah, I wasn't a fan of that, but I wasn't a huge fan of Lana either.

I agree. Went on way too long and it became extremely frustrating during Season 5 as he pushed her away despite the fact when he told her in Reckoning she was accepting. Feels like his father died for nothing.

Do feel they didn't want Lana to learn Clark's secret and have him fall out of love with her until at least the very end, they feared once she's no longer the love of his life and in on his secret the show was gonna take a turn for the worst.

the problem is superman lore. eventually he needed to be that hen-pecked idiot that follows Lois around. another problem is that the chemistry between Clark and Lana is evident, something they squeezed as much possible. if Clark revealed his secret earlier it would made them inseparably. i feel very bad for Lana, as they made her suffer a lot because of that and in the end love didnt matter as Clark just moved on.

They made it so melodramatic and frustrating mostly think cause they're were all too aware Clark and Lana don't end up together, all times perhaps should've had better indications on why he doesn't end up with her and a better endgame for them. Because of all this I believe the original ending they had early on when SV started it was going to be partly about Clana ending for good like Lana being deeply affected by Clark's secret, which makes sense if the show lasted five or six seasons.

Some wish she stayed in Paris, people were fed up with Clana after if not season 3 but certainly season 5 but the writers were so obvious with Lana and KK they just decided to ignore it. It didn't help that her role as Clark's childhood friend was taken up with Chloe, so Lana as a character had nowhere to go if they were to put a end to the drama between her and Clark.

Really, I thought her stint with Jenson Ackles was refreshing. After high school, she should've moved on and left smallville.

Yep, I was right she should've left. I can't believe she was so blinded by her love for Lex that she almost destroyed the world. She should've stayed away when he became Zod yet helped him destroy the city and imprison Clark. How many people died?

Really keeping Lana in the dark about Clark's secret was just an excuse for a bit of on screen tension.

I liked Clana. Kristin Kreuk made such a lovable character (even if she had her strong character) and it's the very bad writing of the relationship (4+ seasons with no progress in their "friendship"!!!) that makes people hate Lana. Of course everybody knows Clark is involved with Lois more strongly, but honestly Clois doesn't work much better. I nearly stopped watching after episode 100. This terrible time travel thing was just unfair to Lana's character, Clark, and his father, characters that are central to the show. At least it put to an end Clark and Lana's love story.

The show did jump the shark after the 100th episode with her falling for Lex. The bad writing has said before were excuses for a bit of on-screen tension.

Think as you would progress through three, four or five seasons you would have to change the status quo otherwise the audience will think "been there done that".
