宇宙で2隻の貨物船が互いに進路を譲らず衝突事故を起こし、動けなくなる。ジョンが状況を聞こうとするが、操縦士のジュリエットとバレットは口論するばかり。アランが救助に向かい、まず2隻を切り離そうとするが、双方の積み荷が混ざると爆発する危険があると分かる。そのままでは軌道を外れて大気圏上層部の熱圏にさしかかってしまうが……。
