The West Wing 토론

Brand new TMDb member and I've been recently rewatching The West Wing, one of my absolutely favorite shows. Anyone out there interested in joining a discussion on the show? Any aspect, or character, or whatever interests people? :-)

I would be interested. I am a huge fan of TWW and if you are watching it still now, have you listed to TWW Weekly podcast? It is an excellent episode by episode show by Joshua Malina. Well worth a listen.

Hi Dilbert, so nice to meet you. I haven't caught the weekly podcast, will definitely check it out. When TWW was in its original run, I started to watch at almost the very end of the last season , was immediately hooked, but only was able to see the last 2 or 3 episodes (very frustrating).

But -- happy news -- we subscribed to Netflix last year, so we were able to watch it beginning to end. We're currently watching again, about halfway through season 6.

I've heard people say they weren't happy with the show after Aaron Sorkin stopped writing, but to tell you the truth, while I've noticed a little difference in the later episodes, it hasn't changed my enjoyment in the least.

I've found too that my having seen the whole series once already doesn't make a bit of difference; there's a neat sort of anticipation for scenes and episodes I remember. For instance, two of my favorites, CJ doing the Jackal and when she needed a "woot canaw," were as enjoyable the second time around. I guess that's a sign it was a well made show, right?

Okay, it's getting late, so take care, have a good night, and we'll catch up soon. Maybe next time tell me an episode you particularly enjoy, and we'll discuss. :-)

Same here.. each time i watch I see something new or different. While I agree with those that say the show was not the same after Aaron stopped writing it, I still enjoyed the remaining episodes nonetheless. I do wonder how he would have done the rest of the series but again.. I myself started somewhere in season one on tv and while I cannot give one episode as a favorite, the ones in my head right off are Portland Trip 2.07 and Celestial Navigation 1.15. But the true answer is I have only 1 least favorite which is The long goodbye 4.13 (not certain why as it is well written but still I usually skip it in a rewatch) definitely check out the podcast especially if you are able to listen and then watch the episode covered..

Just curious have you ever seen any of Sorkin's other shows? Newsroom or Studio60 et al ?

I guess I don't really have a favorite, either, probably shouldn't have phrased it exactly that. More like what episode or part of episode kind of stood out as one that stayed with you.

For instance, "In Excelsis Deo" is one that touched me and I'll remember as a stand-out. And actually, "The Long Goodbye" was the same for me. Probably because my mom had alzheimers and it struck a chord (although very hard to watch). Someone contributing to the writing had a relative (or knew someone, or something) with alzheimers -- Donald Moffat's part was dead on. Actually Allison Janney did a got it, too (but when doesn't she, I guess). The confusion and denial aren't all the patient's, there's plenty of that happening in the relatives, too.

One of the best series made relaxed I was sorry to see it end.
