After a fairly good run the show ends as it began which is a time worn cliche dating back to "The Twilight Zone" and before in literature. As Mark Twain said, "History does not repeat, but it does rhyme."

So now Henry is the jailer and The Kid is back in his Shawshank cell (only now the only occupant of the entire facility). Henry would have been better shooting The Kid in the woods than having to spend the rest of his life feeding this whatever he is. Yes he is not human. We get a very quick glimpse of his true face during the final ep; but it is only for a couple seconds (if that). This put into doubt everything he said about himself being the real Henry, etc. A victim of a time portal; alt reality tear, never really sure which. Bad things happen cause he is not supposed to be there. A person out of sync with the rest of reality bringing destruction of one kind or another along with him.

But was he? Or was he maybe not the devil but a demon? A mischievous unclean spirit that can take human form?

I guess there will be a season two.
