The last ten or so years have given us a dearth of quality science fiction series, and even fewer that one could call the result of one creator with a passion for what he's doing. Aside from "The Expanse", "Final Space" is the only other series currently running that I can actually sit back and just have fun with. Yes, the humor is perhaps not the most accessible for those with aversions to quirky humor and the "loveable idiot" trope, but the characters do indeed grow, and the story shows remarkable depth and feeling throughout each season. The stakes build as the series continues, and I find myself more and more invested in the stories it tells. I strongly recommend you give the series a chance.
