They introduced the character of Ed which was way too cartoonish. I actually liked the chast but the execution was terrible I think way worse than the Mulan live action. The plot became so generic. I don't understand why the Mdb rating is so high.

It somewhat does. It left a lot of dangling story lines. I'm sure at the time they probably thought it'd one renewed.
