Nate moving to the darkside was a bad move imo. They make it work narratively, but he was probably the funniest character in the Richmond locker room, and a great deal of that comedy came from his diffident charm. The whole spitting in the mirror villainy thing just doesn't do it for him as a comedy character. It's the latest in a series of moves that takes the show further from comedy and more towards just lacklustre and silly drama. He'll probably get a redemption story, but I think it might come too late to salvage the joke.

Yeah agree with you there. I know they dropped hints of his darker side but it just didn't match who he was in season 1. Season 2 definitely dipped, and I was not a fan of the dedicated Beard episode - that was awful. Have to say though, season 3 has been so much better.
