Syvällä Lapin erämaassa Aatami Korpi etsii kultaa. Ajoittain pommikoneiden ylilento ja etäiset sodan äänet kuuluvat kirkkaina syysöinä. Viimein raskas työ palkitaan ja kultapöly vaskoolissa kasvaa kultakimpaleiksi, Aatami lähtee viemään kulta-aarrettaan lähimpään kaupunkiin.
