Seymour Parrish (Robin Williams) žije samotářsky ve svém bytě, je expertem na pohledání v oblasti fotografování. Přestože má úžasné znalosti o moderní fotografii, přesto si téměř dvacet let dává fotky dělat ve fotolabu jednoho obchodního domu.
Seymour však pociťuje osamělost a má pocit, že jeho život je život pod psa.
