I was trying to say that both genders have reputations for specific likes and dislikes. And both those reputations are inaccurate.

I love foreign films, I was lucky back when I started watching foreign films there was a small video store in my neighborhood that had a large foreign section. I'd go through periods when I watch exclusively films from one country, then move on to other countries.

I was born in the 50's so I have been watching movies for a long time. We regularly went to the movies (in grade school we would usually go every Saturday, sometimes just me & my sister, sometimes with parents (the drive-in).

That sounds awesome. I'd love to go to a drive-in. Shame they're not around anymore.

But when I say that most film enthusiasts tend to be male I don't intend to sound sexist or critical in any way. It's just been my personal experience. And it's possible that it's just my generation. But usually when I've talked to girlfriends or any other women in the past about cinema they don't seem to be very interested. And I'm not suggesting that's a bad thing.

It's too bad you have never had the pleasure of experiencing the awesomeness of a 'Drive-In theater'. When we were children there was usually after the previews, cartoons & the ads for all of the wonderful things in the snack bar, would be a movie that the kids could see & then one for the grownups. We would wear our pajamas and fall asleep in the back seat after our movie was over. Also most drive-ins had a playground right in front of the screen with swings, slides, etc. Most families would get there early so the kids would wear themselves playing. And when you got older it was perfect for 'date night'. There are still 2 here in Washington state (at least the last time I checked).

The price of real estate. The owners of the land could make tons more money by selling it to developers. There were a couple of places that were turned into 'flea markets' but most were sold to developers. Here is one of the last to go, the picture was taken last August (not sure if the image will post but here goes). It was called the 'Starlite Drive-In'.
